Amazon unveils a slimmer Fire TV Stick HD, opens Ember Artline TVs for preorder

On Wednesday, Amazon announced the launch of its new Fire TV Stick HD and Ember Artline televisions, both now available for preorder.

Following the initial release of the first-generation Fire TV Stick HD two years ago, Amazon has created a new model that is its thinnest streaming device to date, the company says. Launched in 2024, the Fire TV Stick HD served as an entry-level device, effectively replacing both the previous Fire TV Stick and the Fire TV Stick Lite. This approach aimed to simplify Amazon’s range of Fire TV streaming devices by consolidating two entry-level options into one.

The new model is around 30% slimmer than the previous one, which could appeal to customers looking for portability without compromising on performance.

Additionally, the Fire TV Stick HD is said to operate around 30% faster, which will help apps load more quickly. It also comes equipped with Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.3 for enhanced connectivity.

A key feature of the Fire TV Stick HD is Alexa+, Amazon’s AI assistant. Users in the U.S., Canada, and the U.K. can request information about actors, find new shows, and manage smart home devices using voice commands thanks to the AI.

Amazon is also introducing a new “Adaptive Display” setting for the HD model, designed to enhance accessibility by making text, menus, and content more visible and easier to navigate. The feature will increase the size of smaller elements like text and menus while scaling up the artwork so everything feels more balanced. Customers can pick from different size options to tailor their viewing experience. This will launch in the coming months, Amazon says.

The Fire TV Stick HD is priced at $34.99 and is currently available for preorder. It’s set to ship on April 29 in Canada, Mexico, the U.S., the U.K., Japan, Australia, and New Zealand.

In addition to the Fire TV Stick HD, Amazon has opened preorders for its Ember Artline televisions, which are designed to rival Samsung’s Frame TV. First showcased at CES 2026, these TVs mainly focus on aesthetics and functionality.

One of the standout features of the line-up is the option to choose from 10 different magnetic frames that snap onto the edges, available in colors such as Walnut, Ash, Teak, Black Oak, Matte White, Midnight Blue, Fig, Pale Gold, Graphite, and Silver, making it easy to coordinate with home decor.

Notably, the Ember Artline also includes an AI feature known as “Match the Room,” which helps users select artwork that complements their TV’s surroundings. Users can select from over 2,000 free art pieces and connect their TVs to Amazon Photos for an even broader selection of images.

Like the Fire TV Stick HD, the Ember Artline TVs utilize Alexa+, enabling voice commands for content searches and playback control.

This month, Amazon is launching a new feature for U.S. customers that simplifies transferring content between Fire TV devices. Users can ask the assistant to move a TV show or sports game from one Fire TV device to another. The company says the feature will initially launch on Prime Video and expand to more services over time.

The Ember Artline televisions feature a slim 1.5-inch profile and a 4K QLED display with HDR10+ and Dolby Vision support. They are available in 55-inch and 65-inch sizes, starting at $899.99. The TVs can now be preordered, with shipments beginning on April 22 in the U.S. and Canada, followed by the U.K. and Germany.
