Data Center Automation Startup Puppet Labs Raises $5 Million More

Data center automation company Puppet Labs this morning announced that it has raised $5 million in funding, bringing the total amount of capital invested in the fledging startup to $7 million.

Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers led the Series B round, while existing investors True Ventures and Radar Partners – which participated in the Series A round back in June 2009 – also contributed to the financing round.

Puppet Labs, formerly known as Reductive Labs, plans to use the additional capital to build out its engineering team.

Puppet, the company’s flagship product, is an open source data center automation and configuration management framework that provides sys admins with a platform that allows for transparent and flexible systems management. The solution is currently in use by companies like Digg, Twitter, Shopzilla, Match.com and Oracle/Sun.

Puppet Labs today also announced the release of version 2.6 of the platform, with a focus on improvements for enterprise environments.
