Amazon hikes prices for its Music Unlimited subscriptions

Amazon is the latest company to announce a price hike for its music streaming subscriptions. The company revealed this week that the price of an Amazon Music Unlimited Individual plan for Prime members is going from $9.99 per month to $10.99.

As for subscribers without a Prime membership, the price of their subscription is going from $10.99 per month to $11.99. In addition, the Amazon Music Unlimited Family plan now costs $19.99 per month, a three-dollar increase from the previous $16.99 price tag.

The pricing changes put Amazon’s music streaming service more in line with Spotify, which increased the price of its Premium plan from $10.99 to $11.99 last June. Amazon’s and Spotify’s individual plans are now more expensive than YouTube Music’s and Apple Music’s, both of which are priced at $10.99. However, Amazon still offers a one-dollar discount for Prime members.

“In order to bring you even more content and new features, we’re updating the price of select Amazon Music Unlimited plans,” Amazon Music said on an FAQ page about the changes.

The price changes went into effect on Wednesday for new customers signing up for a plan. Existing customers will see the updated pricing on their next monthly renewal billing date, on or after March 5, 2025.

Amazon last increased the price of its music streaming subscriptions back in August 2023. The company had the same message for the price hike back then, noting that it was to bring “even more content and features” to subscribers.
