Pentax continues to beef up its Optio A line with the 12-megapixel, 3x optical zoom A40. You may wonder what’s so special about this, right? How do three types of Shake Reduction sound? That’s right. They include mechanical, digital and movie for any situation to deliver crisp and clear shots. The mechanical SR on the A40 is equivalent to shutter speeds of approximately 2.5 to 3.5 stops. The digital SR ups the ISO to 3200 and movie SR uses software to correct any distorted images while capturing video. Video is captured at 30fps up to 640×480 in MPEG4 format.
More details and specs on the Optio V10 after the jump.

The Optio A40 is rigged with an advanced face recognition AF&AE function that includes a “Natural Skin Tone” mode and a “Half-length Portrait” mode that automatically takes a head and shoulders photo of individuals that are in the photo frame. Like most Pentax point-and-shoots the A40 includes 22MB of internal memory with an SDHC card slot and 2.5-inch LCD.
The Optio A40 ships this month for $299.95.
